Me and the wonderful world of Lego

Here is my first steps into Blogging... odd as I am quite old [that doesn't quite sound like I wanted it too!]
You might have seen me on Flickr though.

I love Lego and that's what I'll be blogging about, from great minifigs to awesome mocs via whatever else I find (o:

The most insane Lego Dragon ever

This dragon, actually breathes REAL file... what a brilliant incorporation of a bbq lighter! Check out akama1_lego's flickr photostream for more pictures and videos.

Series 5 update

Here is my collection so far... still need inuit, gangster, dino suit guy, dwarf and snowboarder. I have to say the detailling on these guys is really good, it is getting better each time they release them. I do think that there are a couple in this series that aren't the greatest idea but ones like the gladiator make up for it.

As far as I know it's still just WH Smith that is carrying stock but Millions of Toys has stocked the figures online today.

Ninjago at Toys r Us [UK]

Spotted this super pack at my local Toys R Us. I don't really like Ninjago, but if you do it seems that Toys R Us are having special events next weekend in store. I'd imagine they will be similar to the events held in the US when the line launched.

The eagle has landed!

For those in the UK, series 5 is hitting the shelves in WH Smiths... I picked up some today and they are awesome! (o:
UPDATE: I opened my packets...
I was especially impressed with the gladiators, their helmets and arm printing is top notch. Also loving the detective hat and the solider.

Good grief! All my dreams are coming true!

Lego is teaming up with DC and Marvel, that's right DC and Marvel!!!!!!!! I keep thinking it must be a wind up... but no, Lego have officially announced it during Comic Con. Blimey, I'm still in shock!

Tower of Chaos

This thing is MASSIVE!  I just found it on Bollops flickr photostream. I can't do it justice because there are so many pictures of all the awesome details, but go check it out - it's bonkers (o: Especially the moving UFO launch pad!

Teikjoon and GHL

If you haven't heard of Teikjoon or GHL where have you been? I have been a fan of these logistic creations for ages - in fact I have been wanting to create something myself but just haven't got around to it.

GHL are a logisitcs company and there is also a flickr group dedicated to mocs - I love the wackiness of Teikjoon's creation and the awesome light grey/yellow colour scheme.

Not exactly Lego... but it is star wars related

I'm a massive fan of all things star wars (although particularly the original trilogy) and have watched the new clone wars animated TV show. The above picture is Barriss Offee and Ahsoka Tano, who seem to be pretty close in the show. I have stumbled across two kuhl members of deviant art who are getting creative, in a good way, with the Barriss/Ahsoka pairing. Raikoh14 has drawn some awesome fan art of the two of them. Here is an example

Also, Colbert-238 is currently writing a fanfic which centres around the relationship between Barriss and Ahsoka, it's gotten off to a very good start and well worth a read.

How did I miss this?

This epic moc is Altaria and it is by L D M - if you check out his flickr stream there is also a 360 degree video and a shot without the pick-a-brick ups (although slightly wobbly).

F-Wing fighter is F(lipping)-ing kuhl

I am enjoying finding the entries for the fbtb.com alphabet starfighter competition, this F-Wing from bartosza6m is a pretty good example of the competition out there. I've been thinking about building one but work is crazy, so I just don't have time

Beware Greeks bearing gifts...

This is a really amazing creation but what really caught my eye is the horse... it's immence! Must have taken a lot of time and effort to build. So my hat goes off to Jared Chan!! Check out his photostream for close ups of all the really kuhl details. (ps I've changed the title from Romans because some people aren't in on the joke and I dont wanna look stupid (o: )

But can it fly?

Kuhl Ford Anglia 'Panda' car by MSC94. I want to build one... but only so I can put Ron and Harry in it. Not only is the build nice but the photography here is also nice and crisp.

Everyone was Kung-Fu Fighting!

Couldn't resist this awesome moc of the characters from the movie Kung-Fu Panda. Check out Po and the Furious Five is all their Lego-ie goodness!  and it all comes courtesy of chiukeung.

My neighbour Totoro

I love this very kuhl Moc which depicts the movie my neighbour Totoro. Here we see Totoro with his friend, Catbus Nekobasu. This creation is by andybear@hk and there are lots of other pictures of this over on his flickr page.

Everyone in the UK lives in the south...

or so Lego seem to believe. Here in the UK we have official Lego stores in Brighton, Milton Keynes, Cardiff, Bluewater (Kent), Westfield (London). So, you'd think that if Lego were to open a new store it might be an idea to do one a little further north.... no!  The next one is due in east London. What an awesome idea... sigh.  (News about new store via brickset)

The Ice-Water Golem

I completely forgot to post this awesome MOC by Siercon and Coral when I posted the Faun party picture earlier. I love this one, there are lots of clever parts useage here to create a very cinematic scene.

Duh duh duh duuuuh! You have found the Master Sword

and many other very kuhl custom Lego compatable items based on the Legend of Zelda.

M1ngles (Michael Inglis) has been designing a huge range of Zelda themed accessories, the above picture (Fairy Bow, Hookshot and Megaton Hammer) is just the lastest in a long line. They are avaliable for purchase at his shapeways store (a link is avaliable via his Flickr stream). I have previously purchased a few of his things, including Master Sword and Kokiri Sword. The quality was good and I will certainly be getting some more things very soon.

Sunday Morning finds...

Good morning everyone!  Here are a few pictures I stumbled on this morning which I think are pretty kuhl.

These are pretty kuhl little piano's by bernardez79, might have to see if I can replicate one of these (o:

Also really like this western themed hotel by Klementina Kos.

Super human building skills

I have come to the conclusion that Bart De Dobbelaer must be some kind of prototype Lego building android because I can think of no other way he could build such amazing MOCs. Seriously, if you haven't checked him out before do it now. Not only does he create some of the most detailed MOCs I have ever seen but he manages to tell really enagaging stories with them. My favourite being Prometheus.

Han Solo with Medal

The good folks at fbtb have posted the news that the new Lego Star Wars Character Encyclopedia will come with a Han Solo to match the Luke minifig who was released with the visual dictionary. Good news if you ask me. The encyclopedia is avaliable for pre order on amazon.

All hail the master of minifigs...

This is the latest custom made minifig from a personal hero of mine. If you have spent anytime in custom minifig circles you will have heard of JasBrick. He is an amazing customiser, using paint (and now a new flashy plastic printer) to create highly detailed creations. Jas is a huge inspiration for me and many other customisers, if you haven't checked out his Flickr stream you really need to. The paint job on this particular minifigure is spectacular, it amazes me that someone can get paint to work so well and be so detailed on such a small model.

Savage Opress

So, I just recently recieved my copy of Lego set 7597; Sith Nightspeeder. Does anyone else have an issue with the colour of the new 'donut of horns' accessory?? The yellow totally does not match the other yellow printing. I have resorted to painting mine...  on a side note, it is kuhl that you get an extra of this donut, it's been painted red and is sitting on my Darth Maul. (o:

Good morning MOCs

Instead of getting ready for work I've been checking in on the Lego world and these two awesome scenes caught my eye...
Faun Feast by Siercon and Coral, I particularly love the instruments in this scene. Also, there is a pretty neat pic of the Lego Toy Story characters chilling out by a camper van but I cant post a picture right now. It's over here, by this_is_marshall. I'm loving the summer, hippy vibe.

More series 5 minifig news

During my routine morning trawl for series 5 news I came across the fact that play.com are now taking pre-orders, with a release date of August 1st. Not sure if that date will stand but those figures are getting closer (o:

The aliens are attacking!!

This moc by Virtual Virago  made me chuckle, save my egg and cress sandwich!!

When will you arrive!!

So, following the review on Eurobricks my minifig addiction is rearing it's ugly head again... I find myself checking the internet regularly for updates on these guys. I know... it's terrible!  I'm not the only one... surely?
Here is the most recent Lego creation that caught my eye [that I can remember]. It's by flickr member Levork

He has produced some awesome decalled DC themed minifigures, which are about the best quality that I have ever seen. Well worth checking out his stream, he has been a real inspiration for me personally.
