Me and the wonderful world of Lego

Here is my first steps into Blogging... odd as I am quite old [that doesn't quite sound like I wanted it too!]
You might have seen me on Flickr though.

I love Lego and that's what I'll be blogging about, from great minifigs to awesome mocs via whatever else I find (o:

More customs... (mostly)

Zombie Killer from MAKBRICKS. Can't quite put my finger on why I like this guy... maybe it's the use of the Haz-Mat hood or maybe it's just because he looks like he's seen a lot of zombie related action.

I know nothing about Cobra really and these minifigs are a little rough around the edges but it kinda works. I always like to see people unafraid to use decals and cut lego, although in this case maybe Power Miner helmets might have worked just as well? Thanks go to John_0515, who also has a couple of other nice things on his flickr photostream.

YES! Thank you andertoons! I don't know why I didn't think of this when I saw the series 5 Lizard/Dino man... awesome use of the new parts. I'm a total sucker for superhero related stuff.

Another nice custom from ~amadgunslinger~ here, I particularly like the detailling on the vest. I know how hard it is to paint on this scale.

There is nothing I love more than Lego Star Wars (pehaps untill Lego Superheroes comes along) and so I love this rendition of the Jedi Council chamber thanks to Lego.Skrytsson... oh... it just makes me need to go on Bricklink to get those Jedi I am missing.... but alas, I have to wait till another payday (o:

JasBrick strikes again

Just after I posted my catch up, Jas puts this up...

Really nice collection of figures here for the Dungeons and Dragons Group competition. JasBrick is awesome! Please check out his flickr stream if you haven't already (and even if you have), he is probably the best (if not one of the best) minifig customizers around.

First Burakki's Bricks Minifig Design Contest

Just a quick reminder... the First Burakki's Bricks minifig design contest is drawing to a close, make sure your entry is in before close of play on Sunday 4th September for your chance to win the Forbidden Forest and some custom wands made by Brick Command.

Friday catch up

Hello... lets round up some more customs!

Quite a nice little custom Mandalorian here from Detroitika, I quite like the painting on the jetpack.

I am loving how many people are making use of the new Dino/lizard parts from the collectable minifig series 5. Here we see some medievial themed figs from Mebumm.

Colonel Clown, featured on Fine Clonier's flickr photostream. He really freaks me out! Check out the flickr page for more info on the custom and the comic in which he stars.

Some nice stripes on this minifig... just need to take care removing the tape so no paint gets pulled. This is brought to you by ~Amadgunslinger~

Nice decal design on this Fleur Delacour minifig, shame the printing of it isn't better but bricktastic.com should be pleased with the design. Check out the flickr photostream for more customs.

Spider-man verses Sandman

Totally forgot to post this, it's by Xenomurphy and apparently only the first of many more planned superhero MOCs. I love the big sand hand hovering over Spidy, ready to squash him.

Samurai verses Lizards

Samurai win.. and wear heads as creepy trophies? That's according to B. Ezra anyway (o: Check out the Mandolorizards too.

Custom Minifig Catch-up

I really like the custom made gun on this Boba Fett minifig by storm TK431. There is also a link on the picture to show how it was done.

Billbobful is a customiser who usually creates nice but rough looking minifigures (to match his somewhat rough online personality I have found). I saw these two recently and they certainly represent an improvement in technique, especially with the painting. I particually like the way he has included an LED in the spacesuit and the painting on the sculpted jacket.

Who you gonna call?

Ghostbusters?  If you did they might show up in this awesome Ecto-1 by Mini_Wizardy.

Catching up...

So, I have been away and now I am back... lets catch up with some kuhl customs I have seen...
Powerpig has made this VERY cute brick built Yeti... aww (o:

Check out this awesome custom minifig by Vieral, I like the painted hair and the custom made coat/jacket thingy. The use of some non-Lego pieces is sometimes frowned on but I personally really like it when it is done well, which it is here with the hilt.

Studs-a-million has been steadily churning out kuhl mocs and custom minifigures, below is a couple of  the latest offerings.

*TheRaconteur* has also been spitting out a few customs...
This one is very rough but it sort of suits it... enough to catch my eye. I particularly like the use of the hockey mask as shoulder armour. And finally The MagikMaster gives us "Stunts with Crackers" 'nuff said (o:

We really need more entries for the contest, so please, have a think there are LOTS of kuhl creatures/beings/half-breeds you could choose from - have a look at the Harry Potter Wiki for inspiration!  Good Luck!

Holidays

Well mine is almost over, will be returning home soon. Normal blog action will begin again. Also, talking about holidays, check out JETfri's current project of holiday themed vigs on her flickr stream, they are rather funny (o:

First Burakki's Bricks Minifig Design Contest

To celebrate the release of the final Harry Potter film my first minifig design contest will be to design and create a minifigure that represents a character from any of the Harry Potter books. To qualify the character must have an entry on Harry Potter Wiki. The winning entry will recieve a copy of The Forbidden Forest (4865). For more information and entry rules please see the flickr group for my contests - http://www.flickr.com/groups/burakkis_bricks_contests/

Sucker for Mandalorians

Head over to Xero_Fett's flickr photostream to see some pretty kuhl custom Mandalorians. He can't take all the credit, the decals come from Fine Clonier (check out the store, it's great!) and there is plenty of Arealight products on show too. I love Arealight's new Mandalorian helmets/backpacks/torsos and they are well worth the money - go have a look at his store.

Coming Soon... Minifig Design Contest!

The last centurian is here to help me announce the probability of Burakki's Bricks hosting a minifig design contest. Keep your eyes peeled for further details coming soon!
Keep checking the blog or sign up to the flickr group for more information -

Nintendo bricks

You might have seen Filip Johannes Felberg's creations before, but if you haven't you should check them out. He has made a collection of Pokemon and Pikmin themed models, which are brilliant. Now he is building his way through the lastest pokemon released in Black and White. They are very kuhl...
here is an example.
